South Korean Women Pray For Their Aborted Babies

About 100 women gathered at the Koodamsa temple in Seoul to pray for their aborted babies and "cleanse themselves of the guilt they feel at taking a life." The Venerable Ji Yul told the Strait Times. As part of the "naktae chondje" ritual, an offering ceremont for aborted babies, the women offered fruits and milk to appease the "restless spirits." A recent study found roughly 40 percent of married women in South Korea have had at least one abortion and that there are more than one million abortions annually, despite the fact that abortion is technically prohibited.

More Young People Becoming Pro-Life

Half of college freshmen oppose abortion, according to a recent UCLA surveyof incoming freshmen. That is a dramatic change for years past when, in 1990 for example, 65 percent of college freshmen supported abortion. A 2000 Gallup poll revealed that 40 percent of 18 to 29-year-olds support further restrictions on abortion, a higher percentage than for any other age group.

Spain's Birthrate Is The Lowest In The World

According to the July 17th issue of the National Post, Spain’s birthrate of 1.2, well below replacement level, is the lowest in the world and threatens the country’s social welfare system. Juan Antonio Fernandez, a demographer at Spain’s Superior Council for Scientific Research, says that with fewer babies being born each year and a rapidly growing retiree population, the nation faces a financial crisis. Experts agree that a country generally requires four people in the work force for every retiree drawing pension benefits. To sustain their commitments to pensioners, Fernandez says that the population will have to quadruple by 2050.

Morning-After Pill Available In California January 1, 2002

On January 1, 2002, California was the nation’s second state (Washington is the first) to allow pharmacists to provide women emergency contraceptives without a prescription. The morning-after pill is a heavy dose of ordinary birth control pills which, if used within 72 hours of unprotected sex, can delay ovulation and prevent pregnancy. Pharmacists will be able to "prescribe this morning-after pill to children without the parents’ knowledge or involvement," said Christine Thomas, acting executive director of CALIFORNIA RIGHT TO LIFE. CALIFORNIA RIGHT TO LIFE would have opposed the bill, even if it excluded minors, because it believes the drug induces abortion, Thomas said.

Attorney General Ashcroft Attacks Oregon Suicide law

Attorney General John Ashcroft sought to override the nation’s only assisted suicide law by declaring that taking the life of a terminally ill patient is not a "legitimate medical purpose" for federally controlled drugs. Doctors who use such drugs to help patients die, as permitted under the Oregon law, face suspension or revocation of their licenses to prescribe drugs, Ashcroft said in a letter to Drug Enforcement Administrator Asa Hutchinson. Oregon State Attorney General Hardy Myers has filed motions in U. S. District Court seeking to temporarily prevent the federal government from implementing this new order. At least 70 terminally ill people have ended their lives since the Oregon law took effect in 1997, according to the Oregon Health Division.

New Technique Could Allow Women To Reproduce Without Men

Scientists at Monash University have created a technique that could allow women to reproduce without men. This technique is different from cloning which removes the DNA from the nucleus of an egg cell taken from the mother and replaced by the genetic material taken from one of the father’s cells, e.g., a skin cell. This new procedure creates embryos by combining female cell tissue chemically rendered similar to sperm (ny removing one of two sets of chromosomes) with an unfertilized egg. The team at the University say they will know early next year (2002) if embryos made with this technique can result in live births.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Ignored Abortion Linkage

October was National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but very little was said about the scientific link between abortion and breast cancer. Thirteen out of fifteen studies have shown more breast cancer among women who have had abortions than those who haven’t. In addition, 28 out of 37 international studies since 1957 have shown a breast cancer link to abortion. Since the 1973 "Roe v. Wade" abortion decision, there has been a 40% increase in the incidence of breast cancer among women. An estimated 43,000 women died last year from breast cancer without being informed of this risk.

Planned Parenthood Offered Free Abortions For New Yorkers

Planned Parenthood took advantage of the deaths from terrorism in New York to offer women the opportunity to kill their unborn children for free from September 18-22. This "service" is Planned Parenthood’s gruesome way of responding to the terrorist tragedy. People died horrible deaths on September 11, so Planned Parenthood thinks it is doing New Yorkers a service by killing babies for free during a time of national tragedy. A press release from Planned Parenthood says, "ANY WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN UNABLE TO ACCESS CARE CAN VISIT ANY OF OUR THREE CENTERS FOR FREE COMPREHENSIVE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SERVICES DURING THIS WEEK, INCLUDING GYN CARE, BIRTH CONTROL, EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION, STD AND HIV TESTING AND COUNSELING, AMONG OTHERS."

World's First Floating Euthanasia Clinic

Australian assisted-suicide crusader, PHILIP NITSCHKE, has revealed plans to create the world’s first floating euthanasia clinic, which would be located off Australia’s coast. Nitschke says he intends to take advantage of the Netherlands’ decision to legalize euthanasia. He plans to buy a Dutch-registered ship and anchor it in international waters near Australia, a country where euthanasia is illegal in order to circumvent Australian law. Similar plans by Dutch doctor REBECCA GOMPERTS are in the making for a floating abortion clinic off the coasts of countries where abortion is illegal. Nitschke rose to prominence when he performed euthanasia on four terminally ill patients after Australia’s Northern Territory briefly legalized the practice in 1996. He continues to hold workshops for terminally ill patients, advising them how best they can kill themselves.

Planned Parenthood Spreads Lies About Condoms And Aids Infections

PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S web site claims that condoms "reduce the risk of HIV infection as much as 10,000-fold." This is a bald-faced lie. NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH (NIH) data say that when condoms are used "consistently and correctly" they may provide as much as an 85% reduction of risk, but as low as 60%. This is significantly lower than the 10,000-fold claim made by PLANNED PARENTHOOD propagandists.

"Jane Doe" And "Mary Doe" Seek Overtrun of 1973 Supreme Court Decision

The plaintiffs in the two landmark Supreme Court cases of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, the two companion cases decided on January 22, 1973 which compelled legalized abortion throughout the nation, appeared in Philadelphia on May 31, 2001 to personally file friend of the court briefs with the United States Court of Appeals. In their briefs they tell the courts why the decisions in their own landmark cases have proven to be harmful to the rights of women and why the decisions in their own cases should be overturned. NORMA MCCORVEY (Jane Roe in Roe v. Wade) and SANDRA CANO (Mary Doe of Doe v. Bolton) are filing their friend of the court briefs in the case of Donna Santa Marie, et al v. Christine Todd Whitman, et al. The Santa Marie case is a federal class action suit brought by five women (three of whom had abortions that were performed without voluntary or informed consent) who argue that NEW JERSEY’S abortion laws violate the most important Constitutional rights of women. The Santa Marie plaintiffs have gained the notice of many women throughout the country who feel they were mistreated by the abortion industry, and a new women’s movement has begun behind their message.

ABC Poll Shows Support For Abortion Slipping

A recent ABC/BeliefNet poll indicates that support for abortion is declining in the United States. 52% of those polled believe that abortion should be legal in all or most cases, down from 59% in January. The poll shows that religious belief is a major factor in opposition to abortion. Half cite their opposition to abortion based on their religious views. Fewer than one in ten who support abortion cite religion as a factor in their decision.

Vaccines From Aborted Babies - Unknowingly Vaccinating Our Children

When the article, "Vaccine from Aborted Fetus Cell Lines Judged Morally Acceptable" hit several Catholic publications earlier this year, the reaction of readers was one of shock, anger and utter disbelief that this country has been quietly producing vaccines for the past 20 to 30 years from aborted fetuses - that we have unknowingly vaccinated our children using the "tainted source." There is currently no other source available for three widely used vaccines, namely: HEPATITIS-A. CHICKEN POX AND RUBELLA/MMR.

French Court Rules On "Right Not To be Born"

In July 2001 France’s highest court of appeals ruled that disabled children are entitled to compensation if their mothers were not provided the chance to abort them. Three families with deformed children argued that if doctors had detected abnormalities in their children, they would have aborted them. The court upheld a decision involving a mentally retarded boy who was awarded damages last year because he had not been aborted. The COLLECTIVE TO STOP DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE DISABLED was outraged by this decision: "THIS IS A REAL ACT OF PHOBIA. NOW PARENTS ARE GOING TO BE ATTACKED AND SEEN AS IRRESPONSIBLE BECAUSE THEY GAVE BIRTH TO A HANDICAPPED CHILD." Yves Richard, a lawyer representing the medical profession noted: "THE RULING MEANS THAT THE HANDICAPPED HAVE NO PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY."

Joseph Sobran Describes The Stalinst Roots Of The ACLU

News Columnist JOSEPH SOBRAN has just written an insightful column on the Stalinist beginnings of the ACLU and criticized it for its continued attacks against the BOY SCOUTS while promoting the homosexual agenda. Sobran writes: "THE AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS SO LONG THAT IT’S A MIRACLE THAT WE HAVE ANY CIVIL LIBERTIES LEFT. . .THE ACLU HAS ALWAYS BEEN DEVOTED TO THE DESTRUCTION OF THE CONSTITUTION."

Women's Group Lauds Abortion-Breast Cancer Suit Against Planned Parenthood

News THE COALITION ON ABORTION/BREAST CANCER announced that a lawsuit was filed on August 16, 2001 in a San Diego court by three California women against PLANNED PARENTHOOD FEDERATION OF AMERICA and its affiliate, PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF SAN DIEGO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTIES. The suit accuses PLANNED PARENTHOOD of having misled women about the safety of abortion. Research published over nearly half a century has linked the procedure with increased breast cancer risk. The incidence of breast cancer among American women has climbed 40% in the last quarter of a century since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion. The incidence of all other cancers has declined in the U. S. over the same period. The plaintiffs, Agnes Bernardo of Chula Vista, Pamela Colip of Loma Linda and Sandra Duffy-Hawkins of Sacramento, are not demanding monetary damages but they are demanding that PLANNED PARENTHOOD provide women with accurate information about the overwhelming evidence that abortion raises breast cancer risk. The plaintiffs are represented by the THOMAS MORE LAW CENTER located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Karen Malec, president of THE COALITION ON ABORTION/BREAST CANCER, reports: "TWENTY-EIGHT OUT OF THIRTY-SEVEN STUDIES PUBLISHED SINCE 1957 HAVE ASSOCIATED THIS ELECTIVE SURGICAL PROCEDURE WITH BREAST CANCER. WE APPLAUD THE EFFORTS OF THE THOMAS MORE CENTER TO ASSIST WOMEN. WOMEN HAVE A RIGHT TO MAKE FULLY INFORMED DECISIONS CONCERNING THEIR OWN HEALTH. IF WOMEN ARE DENIED CRUCIAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE RISKS OF A PROCEDURE, CAN IT REALLY BE SAID THAT A CHOICE EVER BELONGED TO THEM? ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT THE RESEARCH HAS BEEN CENSORED BY PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND ITS SUPPORTERS SINCE ABORTION WAS LEGALIZED IN THE U.S. NEARLY THREE DECADES AGO. IT WAS CENSORED BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARDENTLY PROFESSED THAT THEY CARED ABOUT WOMEN’S HEALTH. PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S GREED WILL COST WOMEN THEIR LIVES AND DEVASTATE FAMILIES. THIS IS A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE."
