THE FRAGRANCE DIVINE

Jesus, oh Jesus - my Garden of Flowers!
Fragrance ascending to gladden the hours;
Perfume of roses and lilacs in spring,
Jasmine and honeysuckle - such is my King!

Lord, let my actions be rooted in Thee -
Flowering branches for all men to see;
Knowing the beauty is Yours and not mine -
Sweet scent of Jesus, oh Fragrance Divine!

THE SCENT OF ROSES

The scent of roses fills the air:
A young girl’s time of love unwise
Comes back to haunt the silver hair
Of her old age - and slowly dies.

He left her as the seasons part:
One day the autumn - then the cold
Of winter - and an aching heart
With child that she would never hold.

She thinks of all that might have been
As teardrops linger on her face;
Remembering back - remembering when
She killed her child - the time and place.

No grandchild sits upon her knee
To brighten up the winter day;
No child in her memory
Except the child she threw away

"I WANT TO LIVE!"

Babies are dying - my friend, don’t you care?
Death, cruel death, makes its mark everywhere!
Brothers and sisters are cut off from life!
Silence surrounds the abortionist’s knife.

Babies are dying - my friend, don’t you care?
What are you doing beyond just a prayer?
"I AM THE BROTHER WHOSE VOICE NEVER CRIED -
"NO ONE TO SAVE ME, I SUFFERED AND DIED!!"

Babies are dying - my friend, don’t you care?
Unconcern grows like dank weeds everywhere!
"YOU WHO PROTESTED AND WORKED TO SAVE ME,
"NOW SIT IN LIMBO IN BLIND APATHY."

Babies are dying - please open your eyes!
Lukewarmness God in His heart will despise!
"I AM THE SISTER WHO’S STILL WAITING THERE:
"I WANT TO LIVE! - AND I WANT YOU TO CARE!"

WORDS

Of all the words that men now say,
Have spoken, and will speak again;
The million idle words each day -
The simple, profound and profane;
The words which call Christ Jesus, LORD!!
Are priceless words for you and me!
Their sounds ring out in one accord
For now - and all eternity!

Oh, Heaven’s gates will part today
For them whose tongues shall now confess
To Jesus they have found the Way,
To Truth, to Life - and happiness!
So bring them joy and bring them peace -
Bring words the angels ever call -
The words whose power shall never cease -
That "JESUS CHRIST IS LORD OF ALL!!!"

WHAT IS THE PRICE?

What is the price? she simply asked
To take this life away?
I cannot find the room for him
Within my heart today.

I have a trip all planned this year
And then perhaps another;
Besides, I feel that I’m too young
To be somebody’s mother.

What is the price? she simply asked
For one small life today?
I’ll trade him for a college course
Or for a raise in pay.

I have my life all planned you see
With things I have to do;
No matter what you say to me,
I will not change my view.

Is this the price? she simply asked
When years had wrought their toll;
If only they were with me now,
I’d sell my very soul.

BACK TO GALILEE

If I could turn the clock around
And travel back to Galilee,
I’d search for every sight and sound
On every road that beckoned me.

To every passerby I’d say.
"HAS JESUS COME YOUR WAY, MY FRIEND?"
I’d look for Him through every day
And then at last my search would end.

With Mary I would sit and hear
The sweetest story ever told
Of perfect love that casts out fear
And brings His grace to young and old.

With Peter, James and John I’d share
The joys of being at His side;
Like David free from worldly care
In pastures green I’d long abide.

"GOD BLESS YOUR BABY!" (Based on a true story)

No Guiding Star to light their way,
They walk in darkness everyday;
New house, new car they did acquire
Material things their one desire!

A child - the crowning glory of man
Was not computed in their plan
To live a life of emptiness
Like chessmen in a game of chess.

And then one day the Hand of God
Moved on these creatures of the sod;
Their "perfect" plan had gone astray!
They learned a child was on the way.

They sat there stunned - she fussed and cried
And acted like someone had died!
He said to her: "DONT WORRY DEAR!
"ABORTION'S EASY - HAVE NO FEAR!"

They found a place to kill their child
And then her thoughts were running wild:
"WHY DOES MY HEART FEEL MADE OF LEAD?
"HOW CAN I WANT THIS BABY DEAD?"

The fateful time an hour away,
They walked outside to a café;
And when the cashier made the change,
A message came how strange, how strange!!

A dollar bill had penned in ink
"GOD BLESS YOUR BABY". . . in the brink
Of time the saving tears came down
They fled the place - she found her crown!

###############

Their hearts of stone at last do beat!
And now their days are made complete!
Material things no more their quest!
God's Guiding Star their lives has blessed!!!

"IS ABORTION WRONG?"

"IS ABORTION WRONG?" he was asking of me
As he stood there in front of the school;
I knew by his eyes which were saucerlike wide
He was not playing me for a fool.

He was thirteen years old - he looked younger still
As his innocent gaze showed his plight;
For why would the question come up in his mind
Unless someone had said it was right?

"ABORTION IS WRONG!" was my answer to him
"FOR GOD SAYS IT IS WRONG IN HIS WORD;
‘THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD SAYS ‘THOU SHALT NOT KILL!"
"THAT’S TRUE!!" were his words as he heard.

His look of enlightenment stayed in my mind
Like a symbol of teens everywhere!
We stand at a school to bring light to a mind
That’s in darkness until we come there!

THE TIMELESS CROSS

The earthquake came - the sun went dim -
The moment He was dead;
And those who laughed and scoffed at Him -
I wonder what they said.

To see the Power of God displayed
In such a sudden way
Would make the stoutest heart afraid
Upon that awesome Day.

And those whose hands had stripped and nailed
His Body to the Cross -
For them, what awful dread prevailed,
What sense of utter loss.

The Corpse whose bloody Head was bowed
Still fastened to the Tree
"Was God’s Own Son", they had allowed -
Incarnate Deity.

Two thousand years have come and gone
And yet we still deride
His Holy Name - and with each dawn
Our King is crucified.

No darkness comes to make it clear
What we are guilty of;
No mighty quakes for us to fear
When we reject His love.

Oh, Jesus, Lord, for what we do
Give us that sense of loss
The soldiers knew who mourned for You
Beneath the Timeless Cross.

KIMBERLY’S LAMENT
(Based on a LIFE LINE call)

Three months is my daughter -
The child within me;
My mind in confusion -
Near insanity.

The father says, "KILL HER!" -
The answer is clear;
No one to support me,
I wallow in fear!!

Oh, why did I do it?
There’s no place to hide!
My baby wrenched from me -
I’m empty inside.

The guilt overwhelming
Refuses to leave;
When I see a newborn,
I shudder and grieve.

Three months was my baby -
Her heart beating true!
‘MY LORD AND MY SAVIOUR,
"I’VE SINNED AGAINST YOU!"

WEEPING IN THE LAND

Behind closed doors you cry at night
Before you go to sleep;
I see your face though out of sight
And I begin to weep.

Oh, all you mothers young and fair
Who let your babies die -
Like Rachel - mourning, everywhere -
I hear your mighty cry!!

Weeping, weeping in the land
As loud as ocean’s roar!
Weeping, weeping - who can stand?
The children are no more!!

Marian Banducci

"THUS SAITH THE LORD: A VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH, LAMENTATION, AND BITTER WEEPING; RACHEL WEEPING FOR HER CHILDREN REFUSED TO BE COMFORTED FOR HER CHILDREN, BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT." (Jeremiah 31:15)
